Tech Integrators Forum for Admin & other Friday items
Helped (very slightly) with the Technology Integrators Forum out at STW in Salamanca today for a collaborative effort between WNYRIC and our CABOCES. Mansell Wells initiated the idea and set up the wiki here. It was very enlightening and I thought went well. There were a few administrators in and out throughout the day, and hopefully it will grow and attract even more next year. The morning was very informative with many tech leaders talking, especially Neil Rochelle and Pat Aroune from Iroquois CSD who did an EXCELLENT job! What is must be like to work at Iroquois with their great leadership towards technology. As they presented I kept adding to my blog section of the wiki because they discussed brought up great resources that I thought other admin’s would want to see, like: Neil’s blogs and some other sites that Pat uses. They did an excellent job as always and I also started following both on Twitter.
There were many other great discussions. Rick Weinberg (we need to get him blogging again) did a great job talking about some Google Tools in a short amount of time, especially: Google Alerts (searching the internet for key words and notifying you via e-mail), Google Reader (everyone needs an rss feeder!), Google Analytics (To keep track of blog/wiki stats and to get a better audience), Google Trends (find out hottest topics on the internet….wouldn’t that be a great way to decide what to write about?), and a few others quickly. I couldn’t believe how much he was able to get through in about an hour and a half! He was “Googl-rific”….man, that’s corny! We did strike up another conversation about the use of Google Sites which I signed up for right when it was released, but have done little else with since! I wonder who else is using it? I NEED TO TAKE THE WEEK LONG GOOGLE COURSE! Has Google taken over the world yet?
Then, I get home after dinner at the Beef and Barrel (my favorite restaurant, even with the McAfee boys owning it……zing!) with the in-laws, and I can’t stop from checking out Twitter and learning about www.twiddla.com. This is a site I need to come back to. You can upload images and invite others to collaborate on them? Neat, not nearly as nice as Voicethreads, but interesting to find out about on a Friday night. Still interested in http://searchme.com and I think I got it on Rick and Tim Clarke’s radar now!
Hope all is well one the internet tonight. Tomorrow looking to clean my parents house before they get back from Florida (hence, my in-laws and LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL wife will be extremely beneficial). Next week, two Tech Connect days, then Black Lake trip! Can’t wait!!

Mark,
Thanks for you kind words on your blog. I actually had no idea that you were blogging. You have done a lot with an edublogs website. I am not sure I can get back into blogging right now. The only thing is I would probably tell someone who says they don’t have time to blog, that you have to make time. It may be coming. Stay tuned.
