Exactly HOW do you find balance?
I’ve been wanting to write about this for awhile, however, my main problem……I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME! How do you find balance? A topic I heard a great deal about when I was first hired at BOCES for this Technology Staff Specialist position.
I have been painting my daughter’s room, looking at Twitter (I may have a problem), Syncing my iPod to get PTI and the Dan Patrick Show (OK, I like sports), and THEN, decided to start a Voicethread Ning for educators (Well, I do have problems)! It is now 1:10am and I have gotten none of them completely done (except syncing my iPod).
How do you balance your life? I’ve had many things that I loved and got involved with. However, now with 2 kids, how do I balance this tech job, family and of course, getting sleep? Any suggestions?
OH YEAH, how am I suppose to have a Second Life (Payne McDonnell), when I can’t handle this one?

Prayer first. I entered the instructional technologist position after ten years in the middle school language arts classroom. It can be a tough balance (I have not golfed since last June!). I have decided to not try to do every tool “everyone” is using unless it fits what I am trying to do with my district. I have Second Life loaded on my machine, but I have not been in it since last November I think. Not a loss on my end. I still read about what others are doing in it, though. Since I learn things rather quickly, I figure I can jump into it once the collective decides it is a required tool in instruction. We do Moodle, DimDim, blogs, wikis, podcasting, and other Web 2.0 tools, etc.
As for the family, I have a 7 y/o son. He loves this stuff, so I bring him in on it whenever possible (he mastered my iTouch before I did). My wife sees him loving it, so she doesn’t mind that Daddy brings home a few things from work to work on. Good bonding time for sure.
Now, if I can just get golf back in the schedule somewhere.
