Edmodo becoming more of a reality

I have had the opportunity to meet Zemote (Jeff O’Hara) on-line…..actually in Twitter after Steve Dembo’s blog post about the new on-line site Jeff (I’m going to have to call him Zemote from here on in) is creating with Nic Borg called Edmodo. I originally heard that it was going to be an educational Twitter! However, I’ve even seen a blog post response from Zemote saying it’s more like Pownce. I see an ability to be a combination between those and Ning, where Edmodo will give you a social network to post responses to embedded video, mp3 podcasts or other files.
Their blog is here!
You can organize by classes, activities and groups and have the posts that you make go to specific groups (as well as your locker – to store all of your posts). The teacher can post on the right side upcoming events, alerts and assignments. I tried to put together a Voicethread below that is open for anyone to comment on.

I can’t wait to see this up and running and hopefully I’ll be able to have some time to play with it in a group setting this summer so that if it works as nicely as I believe it will, I can start showing teacher around my area before September. Thanks for all the hard work Zemote (Twitter link here) and Nic.

I’m as excited about edmodo as you are, but I’m bummed that I won’t have an opportunity to test it with a group right away. I’d love to get in with some other people to play in there right away, though! Jeff has been doing a great job of getting the word out, it’ll be great to see edmodo in beta. Thanks for the post on this!

Kate,
I believe I saw your blog post about Edmodo earlier. I think we WILL be able to get a group together and play around in there. Maybe you can teach us all how to/and why to use Linkedin. I just have an account, but haven’t gotten started. Thanks for the good thoughts. Have a great LONG weekend reading offline.
