Preparing for Web 2.0 Workshop and Tech Connect
Sitting in my office after the long weekend and a morning meeting that helped me get refocused on our Tech offerings for next year. At CA BOCES (Professional Development), we offer Tech Connect trainings to area schools in Cattaraugus & Allegany Counties in Western New York. Schools who did not participate in the Tech Connect trainings this year have “first dibs” on getting involved next year and what a deal they could get! We collaborate with the Teacher Center, run by Tim Houseknecht, and each school prepares a tech plan to obtain up to $3,000 that can be used on technology at their school (not computers). This technology has to be something that can be backed up by tech training, which would be done by myself, the Incredible Tim Clarke, or the Amazing Rick Weinberg (or other staff specialists here). We’ll see what the reaction is, but so far, most seem eager to get on board.
Also, trying to plan for a Web 2.0 workshop Thursday at Southern Tier West in Salamanca, NY. Not sure if there are that many signed up for it (maybe 1, bad time of year to try to get teachers out of the classroom). My main purpose was to showcase using blogs, wikis and rss feeds. If it is a small group, which it might be, maybe I can look at other “Web 2.0 tools” out there like Voicethread or some Google Tools. I know Rick will have a class of kids working on iMovie, so if I can, I’m sure I can help there as well. Going to go check on Twitter and call a few more administrators about Tech Connect.
