3 New Sites for Wednesday May 28, 2008

Here are a few sites that I’ve stumbledupon lately…..did you get it? Stumbledupon????

I have to remember, that I’m not as funny as I think I am. Anyways, let’s go through a list and short description and see if anything follows from it.

Chatterous – Ability to have a chat group about a topic and the history is kept up there. For how long, it looks like 100 messages, but I’m not 100% sure! @budtheteacher invited me into his from Twitter. I could see it as a break out room from Twitter with everyone you follow to have people jump in there and talk about NECC or some other topic. You could see a student’s group thoughts from the beginning all the way to the end of a project, if they wrote in here. I, of course, need more time.

Twine – Still in Beta version. I received and invite from Alec Courosa (@courosa) and now I have 5 invites that I can hand out so people can try it out. Pretty neat social networking tool where you can create your own Items to talk about. For instance, I joined a “Web 3.0″ and “Edu-Twitter” group where resources (links, pictures, websites, videos) are posted, and then you can leave comments. Interesting, I need more time here as well! – Darn, Jing Screencast did not capture the whole screen -

Tag Galaxy – Saw this on Twitter this weekend. Very neat visual using planets (3D rotating globes), and then pictures wrapped around the planet. It searches for tags and pictures on Flickr….yes, @briancsmith, I’m trying to get better at organizing and getting my pictures up on Flickr. I just read it was created by Steven Wood from Germany…might need to keep my eye on him!

Visual website to search for Flickr pictures.

Here is the Voicethread that I came up to showcase these 3 websites.

OK, that is enough for today. Leave comments, or e-mail me at: Mark_Carls@caboces.org

Have a great day all.
