Writing a Mission Statement for my (more than) Seven Habits

About a month ago I attended a short hour training by Penny Williams about Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits.  I was rejuvinated to pursue the Seven Habits, since I read it a long time ago, but have let it all go.  Since it was only an hour brief overview she could not get into much, but did challenge us to write a Mission Statement.  I thought about it for almost 2 weeks and still don’t think I have it finalized, but I did want to FINALLY put it up here on my blog.

The video on writing a Mision Statement showed an 80-year old birthday party and challenged us to think of, “What would you want people to say about you at your 80th Birthday party?”  WOW!  That pushed my thinking a bit!  The eloquent Penny also gave us a few other mission statements, the one I liked the most said, “I want to be remembered as the man that my dog already thinks I am!”

Right now I’m trying to finalize an acronym for my name, using an adjective for each letter in MARK and CARLS……I’m still not happy with it, but am trying to finish.  I then figured it would easy to put my name in sight every day (in house or car, or both).  It will serve as a quick reminder to myself to refocus (which I need), and will also be something that won’t draw attention to others, they’ll just see my name and hopefully think nothing of it.  I don’t know, just a thought.

Maybe I should do that for the Y?   I may need to work that in there because I’m forgetting how to even get there anymore.

Any other thoughts about a good mission statement?  Anybody out there have one?  Let me know……I’ll have to revisit this after I get mine done and am abiding by it.
